What's the story?

On last night's episode of WWE RAW, General Manager Kurt Angle announced that the former WWE United States Champion Kalisto is now officially a part of the cruiserweight division.

"The King of Flight" will now work on Tuesday night's 205 Live as well as the flagship show on Monday evenings.

In case you didn't know...

For two straight weeks, the WWE cruiserweight division has featured in the final segment of RAW. This week saw WWE Cruiserweight Champion Enzo Amore run down the entire 205 Live roster, letting them and the rest of the world know that due to the previous week's attack, not a single one of them will challenge him for the purple title.

Kurt Angle interrupted Enzo Amore to confirm that that was true, only to reveal that he has signed Kalisto to the Cruiserweight Division and 205 Live. "The King of Flight" then evaded an attack from Amore, before hitting the "Certified G" with a Salida del Sol to end the show.

The heart of the matter

Kalisto is clearly being lined up as the next challenger to Enzo Amore's WWE Cruiserweight Championship, as every other member of the division is disqualified after last week's attack. The match between Kalisto and Amore is likely to take place at the upcoming WWE TLC pay-per-view, which takes place on October 22 in Minneapolis.

The former two-time United States Champion will likely make his 205 Live debut on tonight's episode, as his feud with Amore continues. The luchador will likely face a low-ranking heel in singles action, picking up a decisive win before turning his attention to the "Realest Guy in the Room".

Many feel that the move is long overdue, and the saying 'better late than never' certainly comes to mind. WWE has since uploaded the video of Angle unveiling Kalisto onto its YouTube channel.

What's next?

With the rest of the division barred from challenging Enzo, the future of 205 Live arguably rests on the slight shoulders of Kalisto. If the masked man wins the WWE Cruiserweight Championship, the ambitions of the division will be activated once again.

If Kalisto is unsuccessful, who challenges next? A lot hangs on the next move of the newest member of 205 Live.

Author's take

Why oh why has it take more than a year for WWE to right the wrong of the draft and move Kalisto to the Cruiserweight Division? The masked man has been spinning his wheels for months as a division seemingly tailor-made for him does the same. This should have been the norm from the start.

Kalisto vs. Enzo is also a fresh match, allowing Amore more chances to work with a truly fantastic professional wrestler.
