What's the story?

In an interview with TMZ, Gabi Garcia said that she would be open to joining WWE if she received an offer.

In case you didn't know...

Gabrielle "Gabi" Lemos Garcia is a Brazilian MMA fighter predominantly famous for her size in the MMA circuit. She has fought 5 times and has a record of 4 wins and a no contest to her name. Garcia has also fought in a Shoot Boxing contest where she was disqualified for illegal soccer kicks to her opponent.

The heart of the matter

In the TMZ interview, Gabi refused to rule out a potential move to professional wrestling.

"This is , uh, maybe the next step, you know. It's possible one day if the guys over there invite me."

Garcia expressed that she was a fan of the WWE and that she loved watching the company's programming. She has world-championships in Grappling and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, which certainly means that she could portray a unique character on WWE television.

"I love the show, I love watching WWE, so why not?"

What's next?

Gabi Garcia is still fighting in MMA and is currently on the lookout for her next opponent. She last faced Russian boxer Oksana Gagloeva on July 30, 2017, at Rizin 6 in a bout that was declared a no contest due to an accidental eye-poke by Garcia.

Author's take

With the rumours suggesting that Ronda Rousey could work with WWE, this could open up more opportunities for women's MMA fighters to transition to professional wrestling. Shayna Baszler, a former MMA fighter, has joined WWE, and she certainly has the potential to leave her mark on the promotion.
