WWE News: Goldberg discusses a WWE return and original ending to Survivor Series match

Goldberg at the 2016 Survivor Series...

What's the story?

Wrestling Inc. is reporting on a recent interview that Goldberg had with Chris Van Vliet of WSVN-TV in Miami, Florida. Within the interview, they talked about the original finish to his 2016 Survivor Series match, as well as the potential of a return to the WWE.

In case you didn't know...

Goldberg's first run in the WWE lasted from March of 2003 until WrestleMania XX in March of 2004. Goldberg defeated Brock Lesnar in a match that lasted nearly 14 minutes with Stone Cold Steve Austin as the special guest referee.

The heart of the matter...

When it comes to returning to the WWE, Goldberg definitely sounded like it is going to happen. Take a look at what he had to say in the quote below:

"You never know. You really don't. I ain't dead yet and I ain't even close. So as long as I've got two arms and two legs and I can still do my thing, never say never."

There are recent rumors that Goldberg will headline the 2018 class of the WWE Hall Of Fame. Brad Shepard of Nation One News posted this exclusive news via Twitter last week:

If this holds true, you might expect "one more match" out of Goldberg at WrestleMania 34 in New Orleans, but just because you go into the WWE Hall Of Fame, it doesn't mean you have to hang it up completely as we're seeing with Kurt Angle.

When it came to his return match at the 2016 Survivor Series against Brock Lesnar, the original plan was different from the actual outcome. As we all know, Goldberg shocked the WWE Universe with a 90-second win to close out the show.

Originally the plan was for Goldberg to lose to Lesnar, and that was it, it was a one-and-done shot. WWE Management, including Vince McMahon, convinced Goldberg that it might be good for him to stick around for a few months, and laid out a plan and a few reasons why, and as Goldberg said in the interview, "the rest is history."

What's next?

Nothing is official yet, but stay tuned to Sportskeeda for any further information on the return of Goldberg.

Author's take...

I believe that Goldberg would rate the overall run in the WWE last year as a complete success, and I would have to agree. Was it perfect? No, but he was out of the business for 12 years, it didn't have to be perfect.

I wouldn't rule out a potential surprise entrant in the 2018 Royal Rumble in Philadelphia in five weeks. I definitely hope he wrestles at WrestleMania because I have never seen him perform in person.
