WWE News: Goldberg feels bad for Roman Reigns

Goldberg and Roman Reigns staredown on RAW.

What’s the story?

On a recent episode of Bischoff On Wrestling, Goldberg talked to his former WCW Boss about the hatred for Reigns from the WWE Universe and said that he couldn’t understand where the disdain came from.

In case you didn’t know...

Reigns is going through a tough time at the moment as his real-life brother, and former WWE Superstar Rosey passed away on April 17, 2017. Despite the tragedy, The Big Dog is still set to face Braun Strowman at WWE Payback on April 30, 2017, in the next chapter of their feud.

The heart of the matter:

Goldberg said that the crowd has really changed since he competed inside the squared circle on a regular basis and that he’s baffled by the WWE Universe’s hate for Reigns despite his remarkable similarities to The Rock (quotes via Comicbook.com ):

"These fans are completely different! When I went out there ... you always have an alternative worst case scenario for what you're going to say and if you don't you're not prepared. The crowd these days, they like to be the ones who say "hey, look at me." They like to dictate what's going on and when they voice their opinion, its deafening.

And they, for some reason man, have a disdain for him that is completely misguided because as you say, he oozes talent and oozes star quality. He's like Rock, physically and ... he's a good guy, too. How the crowd thing is handled is, I don't know. I feel for this guy. I just don't get it."

What’s next?

After having lost his WWE Universal Championship to Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania 33, Goldberg’s in-ring career on ice for now. Don’t be surprised, however, if the former WCW Champ makes a return if the WWE comes at him with a decent offer on the table.

Author’s take

I tend to agree with Goldberg or any other Roman Reigns supporter for that matter. For the longest time, I have been baffled by the hate Reigns has received over the past few years. Reigns has it all; the look, the lineage, and the ability to put on great matches with a variety of moves (in my opinion). The heat for Reigns at this point seems too great to keep him as a face, but the leader of ‘The Roman Empire’ will always have a fan in this writer.
