Goldberg revealed a lot more in his recent interview

What's the story?

In Booker T's Heated Conversations: Hosted By Booker T podcast, Goldberg spoke about his incredible match with Brock Lesnar at last year's WrestleMania and how he sustained injuries during that match.

He also said that he wasn't happy with how he looked in his last stint with the WWE, in 2017.

In case you didn't know...

Goldberg returned to WWE after a 13-year gap in 2017 and even went on to win the WWE Universal Championship when he defeated Kevin Owens at Fastlane.

Following that, he faced Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 33 and defended his belt but lost it to "The Beast Incarnate" at The Show of Shows, and eventually announced that he will be leaving wrestling.

The heart of the matter

In the podcast with Booker T, Goldberg admitted that he could have been in better shape and perform moves that he did in his prime.

The 2018 WWE Hall of Famer said,

"My adrenaline was there, everything was there, the honor couldn't be any bigger, the responsibility was huge, the pressure was huge, but I would have liked to have been Godzilla doing it like I used to be.
And I would've liked to have been given an opportunity to maybe [gorilla] press a couple of dudes and do some of the moves I used to do back in the day." (H/T WrestlingInc for the transcription)

Goldberg also revealed that he sustained an injury to his groin and quad during his memorable match against Lesnar at Wrestlemania:

"I think my groin turned black. The back of my right quad turned black. The back of my quad, excuse me. The back of my right leg turned black, I think, two weeks after 'Mania. It didn't happen till then! My body was in shock, I think!"

The former WWE Universal champion also said that he was "amped" and "ready to go" for that match against Lesnar because he was relaxed.

What's next?

The WWE Hall of Fame ceremony will be held in New Orleans on Friday, April 6, during WrestleMania 34 week when Goldberg will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame

Author's take

It's not surprising to hear that Goldberg injured himself during his match against Lesnar as that was a brutal encounter! For a 50-year-old Goldberg moved around in the ring pretty well and he can be incredibly proud of that match.
