WWE News: Goldberg trains in Muay Thai with former WCW and WWE star

Bill Goldberg is an avid practitioner of the Art of the Eight Limbs.

What’s the story?

WCW and WWE legend Bill Goldberg is back in the gym after stepping away from the sport of professional wrestling and recently took to social media where he’s seen honing his Muay Thai skills with Ernest ‘The Cat’ Miller.

In case you didn’t know...

Ernest ‘The Cat’ Miller is best known for his time in the WCW from 1997-2001, besides working in WWE from 2002-04. Miller is also known for appearing in the Academy Award nominated movie The Wrestler, and sleeper hit action movie Blood and Bone (2009).

The heart of the matter:

The 53-year old Miller was initially brought into the sport of pro-wrestling by Eric Bischoff, back when the former was the karate instructor of Bischoff’s son Garett. Goldberg, on his part, has always been an admirer of martial arts, having called several MMA and kickboxing fights in the past, besides regularly training in the striking-centric martial art of Muay Thai. Here is the Myth in action:

What’s next?

On the first RAW after Wrestlemania 33, Goldberg addressed the fans after the show went off-air, stating that he’d be leaving WWE and the sport…for now. He, however, did allude to the fact that his retirement may not be permanent.

With Goldberg training in Muay Thai, there's definitely a slight chance that this could be in preparation for another return to the ring.

Author’s take:

Goldberg has worked as a commentator for several MMA and Glory Kickboxing matches, and the man seems genuinely in love with the art of Muay Thai. Given the fact that Miller is a trained karateka, it’s nice to see a Nak Muay and karate practitioner train together.

It’s great to see the legendary performer moving on from his WWE career, onward and onto the next chapter in his life. He is one of the most mythical figures in the sport of pro-wrestling and regardless of whether he returns to WWE or not, his legacy is already secure.
