WWE News: Hornswoggle explains how Superstars hide under the ring in WWE
What’s the story?
In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, former WWE Superstar Hornswoggle revealed details about how WWE Superstars hide under the ring.
In case you didn’t know...
Hornswoggle (real name- Dylan Mark Postl) performed for WWE from 2006 to 2016 and has participated in several segments where he’d emerge from under the ring in order to aid his team-mates.
Most professional wrestlers aren’t strangers to the custom of emerging from under the ring, with several notable performers such as Kane, the Undertaker and several others having used this trick many times over the course of their careers.
The heart of the matter
Hornswoggle spoke on a myriad of issues, revealing his favourite storylines, his best friends in WWE, his upcoming Wrestlecon show, whether he’s still wrestling for Impact Wrestling and much more.
When probed about the ring trick, the 30-year-old elaborated on the procedure that’s routine in the WWE. Here are a few excerpts from his statements regarding the same-
“When it comes to being under the ring, I’d either go under before the doors opened or would get snuck under in the dark while a video package played on the screen. There were times when I was underneath for six-plus hours because it wouldn’t work out to sneak me under later in the show. I’d get dressed under there, have plenty of waters, and would normally bring my phone or PSP. Thankfully, I never had a bathroom emergency under the ring.”
Furthermore, the King Of Small Style recalled his road trips with Kofi Kingston and Curt Hawkins as the best of his WWE experience, referring to the duo as the best friends he’ll ever have in the pro-wrestling business.
Hornswoggle also reminisced about the WWE storylines, involving himself, and stated that the Anonymous RAW General Manager gimmick was his favourite of them all.
Hornswoggle who presently performs under the ring name Swoggle, most prominently for Impact Wrestling, will be at the ACW Watercity Wrestlecon show in Wisconsin this Saturday.
He’ll be performing in a match against El Torito in WeeLC 2, with several other pro-wrestling stars such as Bret Hart, Vickie Guerrero, Mr Anderson, Carlito and Kevin Thorn making appearances.
Remember when we, as kids, used to speculate about how the Deadman appears out of nowhere after the gong sounds and the lights go off. Yep. The good ‘ol days.
Anyway, as the millennial pro-wrestling adage goes- Kayfabe is Dead- and Hornswoggle/Swoggle hammered yet another nail into its coffin. If nothing else, it’s good to know that the Wisconsin native was not inconvenienced in any manner whilst spending hours below the ring. Only in professional wrestling folks!
