WWE News: How Kane's WWE return was kept a secret

Those two looks pretty powerful side-by-side

What's the story?

Kane's return was not only one of the more shocking events in recent memory but as it turns out it was also an impressive feat to pull off backstage.

Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter about the lengths WWE went through in order to hide The Big Red Machine before his return on Raw.

In case you didn't know...

Roman Reigns defeated The Undertaker at WrestleMania 33 and it wasn't long before Kane took off in order to focus on running for Mayor of Knox County, Tennessee.

But one of the Brothers Of Destruction returned on Raw this week as Kane popped out from under the ring during a cage match between Braun Strowman and the man who very well have retired his brother.

The heart of the matter

Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Kane's return was orchestrated with great care.

The Devil's Favorite Demon was actually flown into a different airport away from Portland, Oregon where Raw took place. After he landed, Kane was then driven to the arena and hidden from view once he was in the building.

Talk of a fifth member being added to the heel team during the main event of TLC started to circulate. But most people assumed Samoa Joe would be The Miz's fifth partner, but they were obviously mistaken.

What's next?

Since the entire TLC pay-per-view seems to be built around The Shield's return it's likely to be an extremely long match. As for what Kane could be up to, we've dedicated an entire list to those possible motivations.

Author's take

A return for Kane is always fun. It brings back a piece of my childhood that still lives on after Brock Lesnar killed a huge portion of my fondest youthful memories by defeating The Undertaker's undefeated WrestleMania streak.
