WWE News: Huge NXT name being considered for main roster call-up

Who'
Who's coming up next?

What's the story?

The WWE main roster might be getting a new face and it's someone who is long overdue for a call-up. He's worked hard in NXT after proving his worth on the world's pro wrestling scene.

PW Insider reports Hideo Itami might finally be getting a chance to swim in the deeper waters of the WWE main roster.

In case you didn't know...

Before he was in NXT alongside a class of esteemed pro wrestlers like Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, Neville, and Finn Balor, Hideo Itami was considered as a strong potential WWE talent. His debut was heavily hyped as the man formally known as Kenta finally made his way to WWE.

Itami's kicks are punishing and his striking is stiff. In fact, Hideo Itami's kicks are the reason why Daniel Bryan has hearing problems considering that one kick in a 2007 Ring of Honor match busted his eardrum.

The heart of the matter

Hideo Itami should have been on the main roster a long time ago in theory. But injuries kept him sidelined for enough time to allow others the chance to take his spot on the main roster.

PW Insider reports there is a discussion of bringing Hideo Itami up to the main roster as a member of 205 Live. There isn't a debut date set at this time, but it wouldn't be surprising to see Hideo Itami make his way to the fold once WWE can figure out a way to implement him into the story.

But this might be a very good reason why he hasn't been featured on NXT recently.

What's next?

Hideo Itami should breathe fresh life into the 205 Live roster but then again, we thought the same thing about Neville, Austin Aries, and Enzo Amore.

So far it looks like WWE is striking out in a sense, but the addition of Itami to the Cruiserweight Division might be a big step in the right direction.

Author's take

If you've never seen a Kenta match before then I highly suggest you give it a look. You'll find a ton of amazing material as he battles some of the top names of pro wrestling's Modern Era.

I would love to assume Hideo Itami will be used brilliantly upon jumping to the main roster. But since his NXT contemporaries have long since left NXT it's only fair Hideo Itami finally gets his shot. Let's just hope his talent isn't wasted on 205 Live.
