What’s the story?

Former WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan seems to have backtracked on his joke about the Women’s Royal Rumble.

Earlier, Hogan sent out a Tweet regarding the Women’s Royal Rumble Match late Sunday night, however, the post was taken down following fan-backlash.

In case you didn’t know…

Hulk Hogan is widely regarded as one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time.

He has performed for several organizations including the WWE, NJPW, and Impact Wrestling over the course of his long and storied career.

Following his final stint in Impact Wrestling, he returned to the WWE in 2014 and worked as an on-screen personality for the promotion until July of 2015, when he was fired from the WWE as they got wind of a few videotapes which saw Hogan mouth racist profanities.

Nevertheless, Hogan till date, follows the WWE and the sport of professional wrestling closely—often posting his views regarding the same on social media.

The heart of the matter

Hogan took to Twitter late Sunday night—the night of the Royal Rumble PPV—so as to jest that he wished he was in the Women’s Royal Rumble Match, as he would’ve thrown all the girls over the top rope. Hogan has since taken down the post, however, here’s a screenshot of the same (courtesy--@bubblesdelfuego)--

What’s next?

He had teased a return to the professional wrestling business in the latter half of 2017, however, the Hulkster is yet to reveal his plans for the immediate future.

The WWE was recently probed about Hogan potentially returning to the company for RAW 25 which took place earlier this month, in response to which a WWE representative stated that the promotion remains committed to its decision of not bringing Hogan back owing to the latter’s racist rant.

Author’s take

Hulk Hogan’s joke seemed to have struck a nerve with several fans, as they accused him of directing, what they perceived as misogyny, towards the female talent who partook in the WWE’s Women’s Royal Rumble Match.
