What’s the story?

In an interview with the Miami Herald, Hulk Hogan opened up on a myriad of topics.

Hogan had words of high praise for one of WWE’s top current Superstars Ronda Rousey. Besides, Hogan spoke about the nWo changing the pro-wrestling business, while also addressing rumors of his return to the WWE.

In case you didn’t know…

Hulk Hogan is widely regarded as one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time; and has competed alongside the likes of several notable talents such as “Rowdy” Roddy Piper, Bret Hart, The Rock, Triple H, Kevin Nash, and Goldberg to name a few.

Hogan was fired from the WWE in 2015 in light of a few leaked tapes which featured him mouthing racist profanities.

The heart of the matter

Hulk Hogan asserted it was a very cool situation that Ronda Rousey asked “Rowdy” Roddy Piper for his permission to use the “Rowdy” moniker to promote herself while competing in MMA. Hogan added that Piper was grateful that she was asking, and wanted to represent the Rowdy name on such a high level.

Additionally, on the nWo changing the pro-wrestling business, Hogan elucidated that the group revolutionized the way in which fans reacted to the product—as the nWo made it cool for fans to cheer the bad (heels) guys, instead of only cheering the good guys (faces) and booing the heels. Hogan continued—

“So, the way we changed wrestling's history and the course of the train of thought that the fans have now, I think is attributed a lot to the nWo's reign of terror. I think the now—definitely the three original founding members—deserves a spot in the WWE Hall of Fame."

Furthermore, expounding upon the ongoing banter regarding his possible return to WWE, Hogan stated—

"Well, never say never—that would be a dream come true for me to go back home. I started many, many years ago in 1977, 78 for Vince McMahon Sr., and I've been back-and-forth several times—so I'd like to go back one last time and stay there and never leave home again."

What’s next?

Hulk Hogan presently works as an entrepreneur in Florida, and has emphasized his intentions of returning to the professional wrestling business sooner rather than later.

Meanwhile, Ronda Rousey continues to be featured as a top talent on WWE’s RAW brand today.

Author’s take

Hulk Hogan is spot-on with his analysis of Ronda Rousey, and the latter’s knowledge of old-school pro-wrestling values.

Besides, no one can deny the influence of the nWo on pro-wrestling. Perhaps Hogan’s genius could revolutionize the industry once again…Time will tell.
