WWE News: Hulk Hogan's daughter Brooke Hogan opens up on his Gawker trial

Brooke Hogan’s TNA run saw her in an on-screen marriage and divorce with Bully Ray.

What’s the story?

Brooke Hogan recently opened up about her father Hulk Hogan’s Gawker trial, stating that the incident ‘humanised’ him. Speaking to Hollywood Reporter, she addressed the issue that’s plagued him since 2012. Here are a few excerpts from her interview:

“It was very tough on him. It was very sad to see him so screwed up because I know none of us are perfect. I said ‘Dad, no matter how crazy the press is, the public and your fans, they’re not stupid. They know your heart and who you are’.”

In case you didn’t know...

Brooke Hogan (real name- Brooke Ellen Bollea) is a singer-songwriter and actress, who has made on-screen appearances in the WWE as well as in TNA, with her role in the latter being that of an authority figure from 2012-13.

In 2012, Gawker released a video showing Hulk Hogan in a compromising situation with Heather Clem and her estranged husband, radio personality, Bubba The Love Sponge.

Hogan sued Gawker for damages and had initially ended up being awarded a compensation of $115 million. Hogan later settled for $31 million with the company in November of last year.

The heart of the matter

Brooke Hogan refrained from commenting on the aforementioned settlement between her father and Gawker’s media founder Nick Denton. Instead, she opted to levy praise on the Hulkster, lauding his perseverance.

“My dad persevered, and always took the high road and was accountable, and I respect and honor him for that...People assumed that he was a big, loud, screaming monster. But the cool thing is that he used his platform for good. He knew he was impacting impressionable minds. So he told young kids to train, say your prayers and eat your vitamins.”

What’s next?

Brooke Hogan is promoting her reality TV series The Fashion Hero that sees her mentor contestants from all over the world for an opportunity to be featured in international advertising campaigns. She is presently in the midst of pitching her show format to international buyers at Cannes.

Author’s take

The Gawker scandal has been a thorn in the side of the Hulkster for several years now and it’s great to see his daughter stand by him. Hogan and the company reached a settlement last year and with all parties ready to move on, we wish nothing but the best for the Hulkster and his family.

Big props to Brooke for speaking her mind and with the current rumours of Hulk Hogan making a potential return to the WWE, maybe a guest appearance by Brooke is in the offing as well. Fingers crossed!
