WWE News: Identity of new Raw Tag Team Champion "Nicholas" revealed

WWE tr
WWE truly shocked the world tonight

Well, it was one of the hottest stories both before AND after WrestleMania.

Who would partner Braun Strowman at WrestleMania?

Samoa Joe, Elias, Hulk Hogan, Bray Wyatt, Rey Mysterio and Bobby Lashley had all been rumoured - so who did Braun pick?

Nicholas.

"Who?" I hear you ask. Well, don't worry, that was the question on everyone's lips. Braun Strowman chose Nicholas from the WWE Universe right before the match.

Michael Cole estimated that Nicholas was a ten year old boy - but his identity has now been revealed.

Rumours had been floated that Nicholas may be Shane McMahon's son or Jon Stewart's son being masqueraded as a fan, but Brad Shepard of Bodyslam.net has now confirmed Nicholas does have a WWE employee as a relative - official John Cone.

Brad Shepard, who has broken several WWE stories over the past few months, states he was given information that the youngest ever WWE champion is actually the son of referee John Cone.

Cone started has been refereeing since 1995 and even refereed the WrestleMania 33 main event between Undertaker and Roman Reigns. Cone was also the official in the ring when it exploded during Braun Strowman's match with Big Show. Thankfully, his son had more luck when he shared a ring with The Monster Among Men.

One of the best things about this story is that the official line whenever it was speculated who would be Braun's partner is that "the information would be held right up until the very last minute" and that's precisely when Strowman plucked the "random" child out of the crowd.

The match is sure to go down as one of the most controversial matches in WWE history, but it certainly showed that Braun could easily be the face of the company.

Will Nicholas show up on Raw tomorrow? We'll have to wait and see...
