WWE News: Injury updates on Kevin Owens & Jason Jordan

It's
It's looking good for one, bad for the other

What’s the story?

Former WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens and one half of the current WWE RAW Tag Team Champions Jason Jordan have both been down with injuries in recent weeks, which is why both have either seen no in-ring time on RAW and Smackdown, or very little, such as Owens quick loss to AJ Styles this past Tuesday on Smackdown.

In case you didn’t know…

Kevin Owens had been out of action with a back injury he suffered during a tag team match on the January 9th episode of SmackDown, where he teamed with Sami Zayn in a losing effort to AJ Styles, Randy Orton and Shinsuke Nakamura in a handicap match.

Jason Jordan has also been out of action with a back injury he suffered in a match during a WWE live event about 2 weeks ago.

The heart of the matter

Kevin returned to action at Saturdays's Smackdown live event in Richmand, Virginia and lost to AJ Styles in a Steel Cage match, which was described to be excellent and by far the match of the night. Judging by Kevin's performance at the show, he looks to be in fine condition for his WWE Championship match at the Royal Rumble.

Jason Jordan also returned to action at the WWE RAW live event in Baltimore, in a 6 man tag team match teaming with partner Seth Rollins, and Roman Reigns. However, fans in attendance noted that Jason only performed one move the entire match, a clothesline. It appears Jason will not be in the best condition heading into his match at the Royal Rumble.

What’s next?

The WWE Royal Rumble Pay-Per-View takes place tonight at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Kevin Owens will team up with Sami Zayn to take on WWE Champion AJ Styles in a Handicap match for the WWE Championship, while Jason Jordan and Seth Rollins will defend the WWE RAW Tag Team Championships with The Barr.

Author’s take

It's great that Kevin Owens appears to be back in good condition and his WWE Championship match will be sure to not disappoint. Unfortunately the same can not be said for Jason Jordan. He appears to be still in bad shape, so I hope his ring work tonight is limited, or for maybe some kind of angle to end the match early, so he doesn't get seriously hurt.
