What’s the story?
Mike Johnson of PWInsider has been reporting on details of Pandemonium, the recently announced biopic of Vince McMahon. Johnson received this information from several sources with the start of the film depicting the WWE Chairman in the 1970’s, with his wife Linda working as a waitress in a strip club.
McMahon learns that Linda is pregnant (presumably with Shane) and declares that the mother of his child won’t work in a place such as a strip club. The manager of the club attempts to stop them as they are leaving and receives a beat down from Vince.
In case you didn’t know...
The Pandemonium announcement came a couple of days prior to the script information being leaked. Sony TriStar Pictures will produce the movie with John Requa and Glen Ficarra directing. This duo recently worked on the Tina Fey movie Whiskey Tango Foxtrot.
The heart of the matter
McMahon and WWE Studios are heavily involved in the project and will have the final say over the script. Johnson notes that the script will undergo several rewrites at this stage of development.
The article also touches on some of the fictional details of the leaked script, including Vince McMahon Sr. passing away during the steroid trial (passed away before WrestleMania I), the creation of the ‘Mr McMahon’ character takes place in a limousine after the steroid trial. The biopic also describes the places where McMahon discovered talents such as Roddy Piper (jail), Junkyard Dog (construction site), and Jimmy Snuka (porn actor).
Other details leaked from the script include the time when Shane and Stephanie McMahon were taunted by their classmates during the trial, leading to the siblings beating up those who made fun of them.
There is also mention of the rumoured affair between Randy Savage and Stephanie McMahon, and a roid rage fight between Randy Savage and Roddy Piper.
With the leak of these details this early, it is safe to assume that there will be a lot of information about the movie before filming even begins. At this time, there is not an estimate release date for the movie.
WOW! That’s how I would sum up these details. It appears that this biopic will be an outlandish enhancement of storytelling, but that shouldn’t be a surprise from a man like Vince McMahon.
As a keen wrestling fan, I was already interested in the project, but after reading the details in the early stages of the script, I, like many wrestling fans around the world, cannot wait to watch the biopic.Published 28 Apr 2017, 12:25 IST
