What’s the story?

Speaking to Andy Malnoske of Wrestling Inc, James Ellsworth opened up on a myriad of topics.

Ellsworth revealed his favorite moment in his WWE stint, while also addressing the possibility of a WWE comeback in the future. Besides, Ellsworth spoke about Vince, Shane and Stephanie McMahon, as well as his first WWE angle with Braun Strowman.

In case you didn’t know…

James Ellsworth’s WWE career commenced as an enhancement talent for Braun Strowman back in 2016.

However, as Ellsworth drew considerable reactions from the fans, the WWE signed him to a full-time contract—eventually having him perform as part of the AJ Styles-Dean Ambrose WWE Championship feud, following which he served as a manager for Carmella.

“The Chinless Wonder” was released by the WWE in November of last year.

The heart of the matter

James Ellsworth asserted that his favorite moment during WWE stint, is the time he competed against AJ Styles in a WWE Championship Match in the main event of SmackDown.

Additionally, Ellsworth noted that his success in the WWE was lightning in a bottle, in the sense that despite not being likely to acquire a full-time WWE contract, his match with Braun Strowman and the promo time he received, endeared him to the fans. Ellsworth added that he’s indeed grateful to the fans who’ve supported him throughout.

Regarding his interactions with the McMahons, Ellsworth stated—

"Vince is the boss, I've had a couple conversations with him up there. It's like any other job, he's the boss, so very employee-to-boss conversations…Shane's more 'one of the boys', so I'd talk to Shane. Stephanie, I didn't see her much because she was on RAW and I was on SmackDown, but when I did see her she was very sweet and always said hi. That's about it."

Furthermore, Ellsworth emphasized that he’s now working with the NWA (a promotion operated by The Smashing Pumpkins lead singer Billy Corgan). Ellsworth continued that he’s working as many indie dates as possible, and when the time is right, fans could see him back in the WWE.

What’s next?

James Ellsworth presently competes on the independent professional wrestling circuit.

Author’s take

James Ellsworth deserves a ton of appreciation for making the most out of his time in the WWE. While he may not be the greatest in-ring wrestler, Ellsworth exceeded expectations as a heel manager—a role which he could play if and when he returns to the WWE.
