WWE News: James Ellsworth released from WWE contract

It was fun while it lasted

There have been few Cinderella stories like James Ellsworth. The man was plucked out of obscurity because Vince McMahon liked the way he looked while taking a beating from Braun Strowman and he soon found himself in a top-level storyline trying to attain a contract from either WWE brand.

Since his emergence on the WWE roster Ellsworth's t-shirts sold like hotcakes and he soon joined up with Carmella to assist her in winning the Money In The Bank contract on two separate occasions.

The relationship between Carmella and Ellsworth developed a rather odd dichotomy which resembled an S&M relationship on a PG Level. He followed "The Princess Of Staten Island" around like a puppy on a leash and was always at her beckoned call.

But all good things must come to an end and it looks like the last time we saw Ellsworth after he had his head kicked off by Carmella might have been it for him. This assault from Carmella came after Becky Lynch defeated Ellsworth in definitive fashion in an inter-gender match on SmackDown in Manchester.

James Ellsworth might have been released from his WWE contract as of November 15th, 2017 and it is a sad moment for fans of "The Chinless Wonder" all over the place. But if any stories of recent WWE releases have told us anything it's that this is not the end for him.

The indie scene will soon have a new addition and he loves pro wrestling. It was great to see this underdog get his shot at the big time and thrive for as long as he did. Although he didn't garner the accolades some dream about, the fact that a guy his size became a WWE Superstar in the first place speaks wonders for the power of initiative and never giving up.
