WWE News: Jerry "The King" Lawler wasn't impressed with the House Of Horrors

There wasn’t much horror in this house...

What’s the story?

In the recent Jerry “The King” Lawler podcast, “Dinner With The King”, the WWE Hall of Famer answered fan questions and spoke about the House Of Horrors match at Payback between Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt.

Lawler said that he was looking forward to the match as a fan of the horror movie genre, but revealed in his podcast that he was disappointed with the segment, perhaps because of his high expectations for it.

In case you didn’t know...

Lawler starred in a horror comedy movie in 2012 called Girls Gone Dead where he played the role of Sheriff Jackson Cole. That wasn’t his only appearance on the silver screen as he also made a cameo in the 1998 movie Man On The Moon starring Jim Carrey about his legendary rival Andy Kaufman.

The heart of the matter

Lawler was right to have high expectations because the promos showed torture devices and various traps. The match had none of the above and aside from Orton approaching the house, there were nothing scary in the segment.

What’s next?

Wyatt appears to have Finn Balor in his sights after costing him the main event on Monday Night Raw this week. As for Orton, his focus will be on Jinder Mahal in the WWE Championship match at Backlash in a little over a week.

Author’s Take

I didn’t hate it like most viewers, but I don’t believe this belonged on a pay per view which was probably the main reason the crowd booed the segment.

I thought it was a unique segment, but the WWE hyped the House of Horrors like it would be a death trap set up by Jigsaw from the famous Saw movies. Lawler was spot on with his comment as the only scary aspect of the segment was the creepy dolls hanging from the ceiling.
