WWE News: Jim Ross discusses possible scenarios at the Royal Rumble

Jim Ross feels Goldberg and Brock Lesnar will eliminate each other in the Royal Rumble match

The Royal Rumble is among the biggest pay-per-view events on the WWE calendar every year and 2017 edition will be the 30th one in its history. The Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas will play host to next year’s Rumble, and it promises to be a real extravaganza.

Legendary WWE commentator Jim Ross spoke in the recent episode of his podcast, The Ross Report, about the scenarios that could possibly transpire in the 30-man Royal Rumble match and the other matches that may take place at the pay-per-view.

Goldberg and Brock Lesnar are two names that have been confirmed for participation in the prestigious Royal Rumble match. While Goldberg conveyed the news himself on the episode of Raw following the Survivor Series, Lesnar’s advocate Paul Heyman revealed his presence in the match this Monday night.

Ross claimed that either of the two Superstars would eliminate one another to set up another duel at Wrestlemania 33. According to him, Wrestlemania was the ideal place for Lesnar and Goldberg to go at it, irrespective of the amount of money that the WWE has spent over them.

“I suggest that both [Goldberg and Lesnar] will eliminate the other…That would lead to their re-match—of the re-match—at Wrestlemania 33 in Orlando. It seems to me, that with as much WWE has invested in both these men, that Wrestlemania is the only right place to blow it off…The Story line has to come to another big pop, which could happen at the Rumble.”

Good Ol’ JR also hinted at the possibility of a singles match between SmackDown Live commissioner, Shane McMahon and his brother-in-law, Triple H. He stressed on the fact that the match is bound to happen in the near future but wasn’t sure if the Royal Rumble will be used as a platform for it.

The man who is referred to as ‘The Voice of the WWE’ also speculated about The Undertaker being in action at the pay-per-view depending on his health, following a recent hip surgery. He opined that ‘The Deadman’ may wrestle in the 30-man Royal Rumble match itself and could end up getting a title shot if he wins.

Jim Ross also spoke about the probable return of Olympic Gold medalist Kurt Angle to the WWE and pointed out that the Royal Rumble would provide a perfect platform for this to happen.

“It’s not a matter of ‘if’ but a matter of ‘when’ we will see Kurt Angle back in WWE. If WWE has any concrete plans in having Angle back for one final run to end his Hall of Fame career, the Royal Rumble is the perfect opportunity to do so,” Ross was quoted as saying.
