WWE News: Jim Ross Suffers Bad Fall

Jim Ross

What’s the story?

Former WWE announcer and Hall of Famer "Good Ol' JR" Jim Ross suffered a nasty fall yesterday afternoon outside his home in Oklahoma. Recently, Jim Ross has been going through contract negotiations with AXS TV that have apparently fallen through.

In case you didn’t know…

Jim Ross has been in the wrestling business for more than fifty years. Starting out as a referee in the mid 70's, then transitioned to a play-by-play analyst for "Cowboy" Bill Watts' UWF promotion in the 80's. During the buyout, Jim Ross would transition over to Jim Crockett Promotions (JCP), or the NWA at the time.

Jim would eventually become the lead announcer for NWA as they began their transition to WCW following Ted Turner's buyout. Jim would become an Executive Vice President for the company and took a pay cut to leave WCW for the WWE in 1993.

Ross has been with the WWE on and off since 1993 through the present day, and has (arguably) become the legendary voice of the company, aside from the late Gorilla Monsoon. He became a member of the WWE Hall of Fame in 2007.

The heart of the matter

Earlier today, Jim Ross took to Twitter to announce that he suffered a very nasty fall and looks to be in pretty bad shape.

What’s next

In spite of his nasty bump, Jim Ross seems to be pretty optimistic about it and in good spirits. He will be attending the Oklahoma University game to cheer on his beloved Sooners tonight. Jim Ross recently departed AXS TV when contract negotiations fell through between him and the company.

On behalf of all of us here at Sportskeeda, we want to send out our good wishes to Jim Ross and hope that he has a speedy recovery. "Boomer Sooner!".
