WWE News: Jinder Mahal assaults one of the Singh Brothers

<p>

What's the story?

As seen on SmackDown Live this Tuesday night, "the Modern Day Maharaja" Jinder Mahal finally lost his precious WWE Championship in a match against "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles.

Styles, who had been feuding with Jinder for the past few weeks finally got his shot at the coveted Championship and was able to deliver on every front.

After losing his Championship, the Maharaja was absolutely irate; and he chose to take out his frustrations on one of his lackeys known as 'the Singh Brothers'.

In case you didn't know...

Jinder Mahal, whose real name is Yuvraj Singh Dhesi, debuted with the WWE in 2011 but went on to have a lacklustre career till 2012 when he became part of a comic relief stable called 3MB, along with Drew McIntyre and Heath Slater.

Jinder, however, was released by the WWE during late 2013 and he then went on to perform on the independent circuit till 2016.

Jinder re-signed with WWE in 2016, but had an abysmal run on RAW before he was drafted to SmackDown live during the 'Superstar Shakeup'.

On SmackDown Live, Jinder was able to shine as he won the WWE Championship soon after his debut on SmackDown. It was on SmackDown where Jinder had formed an alliance with Sunil and Sameer Singh: The Singh Brothers; who were previously known as 'the Bollywood Boys'

It was thanks to these two and their outside interferences in Jinder's matches that he was able to defeat his opponents and retain the WWE Championship for a historic 170-day reign.

The heart of the matter

On SmackDown Live 'the Phenomenal one' was able to put a halt to Jinder's title run, winning the championship after hitting Jinder with a phenomenal forearm.

The Maharaja was understandably upset with the Singh Brothers for not being able to help him enough to pick up the victory on this occasion.

As can be seen in the video below, the Maharaja unleashed his rage on one of the Singh brothers ramming him into the barricade with full force.

What's next?

Although 'Jinder Mahal vs Brock Lesnar' was the match being advertised for the Survivor Series PPV, that has now been changed to a contest between Styles – the WWE Champion and Lesnar – the Universal Champion in a Champion vs Champion match.

Jinder will get his rematch soon and it will be interesting to see if he is able to win the Championship back before the WWE India tour starts.

It will also be interesting to see if the dynamic between Jinder and the Singh brothers will change after this attack or not.

Author's take

It comes as a surprise to me that WWE decided to put the belt on Styles at this point considering WWE is going to tour India in December and Jinder will most likely be the star attraction.

It is believed that it was to protect Jinder as he is suffering from an injury, and a match with Lesnar might have aggravated that.

Only time will tell if Jinder is able to become a two time WWE Champion before the India Tour starts.
