What’s the story?

In a recent appearance on Chasing Glory with Lillian Garcia, former WWE Champion Jinder Mahal opened up about his experience at WrestleMania 33 and why he wasn’t satisfied with competing at the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal during the event.

In case you didn’t know…

Prior to his run as WWE Champion, Jinder Mahal was pretty much used as an enhancement talent in the WWE and at WrestleMania 33, “The Modern Day Maharaja” competed in the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal match where Mahal was the runner-up to eventual winner Mojo Rawley, who eliminated the former WWE Champion, via a little assist from Rob Gronkowski.

The heart of the matter

While interacting with Lillian Garcia on her podcast, Jinder Mahal noted that he definitely enjoyed his experience at WrestleMania 33, but claimed that he had bigger goals of being a part of the main card during the show. (H/T: Wrestling Inc)

"It was cool, definitely, but part of me, I'd be lying if I'd say it wasn't disappointing in a way because I wanted to be on the main show. Actually, one of the things that I did in this last year is that I write down my goals. Every day I write down 'Main Evented WrestleMania', along with writing, '10-Time World Champion', I have all these goals. I write down what my net-worth is going to be, how many properties I'd like to own. Every day I write this down.”

Additionally, Mahal also noted that one of his primary goals right now is to make sure that he gets to main event WrestleMania someday, as he has already achieved one his main targets, which was to become WWE Champion for the very first time in his career.

Mahal, in addition, also stated that some point down the line, he certainly hopes to become a 10-time World Champion as well.

"One of my goals is main eventing WrestleMania. Right now, I write '10-time World Champion'. Before I became WWE Champion I used to write down 'Become A Champion in WWE,' because I was so low on the card, to even hold a championship in the WWE I would think that it would be so cool."
"I can be Intercontinental Champion, US Champion, but I should have written 'Become a World Champion.' I'm a firm believer that if you put it on paper and it reminds you to work hard every day, especially every day if you write down your goals."

What’s next?

Jinder Mahal is currently slated for a one-on-one rematch for the WWE United States Championship against Jeff Hardy, coming Friday at The Greatest Royal Rumble event in Saudi Arabia.

Author’s take

Jinder Mahal has definitely worked very hard, ever since he made his return to the WWE and to see him make such monumental progress in the WWE is truly inspiring and phenomenal as well.
