WWE News: Johnny Gargano possibly injured in the Cruiserweight Classic

Gargano has worked for NXT as well

The first four matches from Round 1 of the inaugural WWE Cruiserweight Classic were aired a few days ago. The matches were taped back in June from Full Sail University. The second round was recently taped and eight quarter-finalists have been determined.

In an unfortunate twist, it seems one of the participants, Johnny Gargano suffered an injury during the tapings. He defeated Tommaso Ciampa to qualify for the second round.

As reported by wrestlinginc.com, Gargano may have suffered a leg injury during his match with TJ Perkins. The fans in attendance described it as a scary spot. Apparently, Gargano performed a flip onto his opponent outside the ring.

In this attempt, his legs struck the timekeeper's table and a nearby chair. He continued the match after this incident although he seemed in a lot of pain. After the match was over, Gargano was checked on by a trainers and eventually helped back to the locker room. Whether the injury was legit or not is yet to be confirmed.

Johny Gargano has appeared for several NXT events in the past but never signed with WWE. A few months ago, he officially became a part of the NXT roster but his contract allowed him to perform for some independent wrestling promotions as well.
