WWE News: Karl Anderson on his first year with the WWE

Karl Anderson debuted in WWE last year

What’s the story?

Karl Anderson recently spoke about his experience upon completing his first year in the WWE, in an interview with USA Today.

In case you didn’t know…

Karl Anderson (real name- Chad Karl Allegra) rose to prominence as a tag-team competitor alongside Doc Gallows (WWE’s Luke Gallows) and played a prominent role in Bullet Club in New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW).

Despite Gallows having previously competed in WWE, the tag-team duo of Anderson and Gallows were introduced to the WWE Universe as debutants. The team has previously held the RAW tag-team titles since entering the fray in WWE last April.

The heart of the matter

Anderson assessed his first year with the WWE and spoke about the differences between WWE and NJPW.

“We love the physical aspect and we love the entertaining aspect. A lot of the Bullet Club stuff that what we did in New Japan was based on having fun and being entertaining, but when it was time to get in the ring, we could handle business there too. I’m looking forward to seeing what we do next.

Anderson then went on to talk about the tag team divisions on both brands and the Hardyz:

“Ever since we showed up in the WWE, The New Day was on top and to see them leave the RAW tag team division, you can tell it’s different. Having the Hardy Boyz come back at WrestleMania, that’s a bonus. To have guys like Jeff Hardy and Matt Hardy who have been all over the world and gotten so famous and are still really good at what they do is really cool. The Revival, they’re two of the best as well. Cesaro and Sheamus have come into their own and they’ve been around WWE for a long time. There’s a lot of good tag teams coming up.”

Furthermore, he revealed that news of the Hardys participating at WrestleMania 33 was broken to them barely hours before the event. Anderson also emphasised that competing against the Hardys in a ladder match at Wrestlemania was an honour.

What’s next?

Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows will face Enzo Amore and Big Cass at WWE Payback on Sunday, April 30th.

Author’s take

Although Anderson and Gallows haven’t been booked as well as they were in Japan, they still are one of the more ‘over’ teams on the WWE roster today. I’ve got my fingers crossed for a potential ‘Club’ reunion between the aforementioned duo, AJ Styles and Finn Balor in the near future. Book it, Vince.
