What's the story?

Kevin Nash was recently a guest on 'The Ross Report' and talked to Jim Ross about the current WWE scene. He said that he watched the programming in his own time so that he could skip the 'filler' segments.

He also talked about Finn Balor, and whether he thought Balor had star power. He mentioned that Balor was a star who had caught his eye.

In case you didn't know...

At one point in time, there were rumours that Balor would face Brock Lesnar at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view for the Universal Title. He did not get the opportunity though, with the Universal Champion instead set to face both 'The Monster Among Men' Braun Strowman as well as Kane in a Triple Threat match for the title at the Rumble.

Dave Meltzer, of the Wrestling Observer Radio, claimed the reason Balor would not face Lesnar was because he was not 'over'. The company did not see Finn as a top guy any longer, so he was not involved in the Universal Title picture.

The heart of the matter

In his interview with Jim Ross, Kevin Nash revealed that he felt Balor has a ton of star power. Described as one of those guys who no-one expected would receive a push, he also said that his entrance was enough to give the sense that he was a star.

"There are some guys who you wouldn't have thought in a million years would get a push like Finn Balor, but his entrance alone makes him a star."

Balor's entrance is elaborate and has him enter slowly amidst smoke and dark lighting so that he cuts an impressive figure.

Nash went on to say that Balor 'cuts just right', with his pose and the lighting, both of which add to the impression he creates. He admitted, however, that as old school wrestlers, they would always sit back and ask a wrestler like Balor to "slow down".

"Of course we are old school and going to sit in our recliners where we say, 'slow down kid.'"

What's next?

Finn Balor has recently reunited with his former Bullet Club mates, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson. Together, as the Balor Club, the three are set to take on other Raw stars. Balor is scheduled to take part in the Royal Rumble match and will look to win it all, gaining back some of his lost momentum in the process.

Author's take

Balor is one of the WWE's top stars and is equally popular too. Given his renewed partnership alongside Gallows and Anderson, he's set to rise through the ranks of the Raw roster once again.
