What’s the story?

NXT Superstar The Velveteen Dream received high praise following his amazing match against Aleister Black at Takeover: WarGames. However, one of the most notable people to praise Dream was former WWE Universal Champion, Kevin Owens.

In case you didn’t know…

The rivalry between Aleister Black and The Velveteen Dream ignited a few weeks ago on NXT TV when Dream interrupted a promo on Aleister Black’s career and called him [Black] “afraid”. The two men would seemingly continue their feud for the next few weeks by interrupting each other in the middle of their matches before it was announced that the two would eventually face each other at Takeover: WarGames.

Earlier today at Takeover: WarGames, The Velveteen Dream and Aleister Black finally went head-to-head in a solid match at the Toyota Center in Houston.

Despite putting a solid effort, Dream was not able to put an end to Aleister Black’s undefeated streak, as Black defeated Dream after hitting the Black Mass to pick up the win in a match that will go down as one of the best in Takeover history.

The heart of the matter

After their tremendous match at the Toyota Center, WWE Smackdown Live Superstar Kevin Owens— who was also present in the arena during the show, tweeted out from his official Twitter account and praised the Washington native, despite him ending up on the losing side.

Owens, in his tweet, said that The Velveteen Dream’s name will be spoken about in the future and for a lot of years to come.

What’s next?

The Velveteen Dream and Aleister Black showcased their talent at Takeover and their rivalry is heating up to be one of the finest in recent times.

At the age of just 22, Dream will surely reach new heights in NXT and the WWE, and it will also be interesting to see what the company has in store for him in the future.

Seeing how KO is a huge supporter of Dream, it is quite possible that the two team up in the future.

Author’s Take

Kevin Owens is absolutely right by stating that The Velveteen Dream is destined for greatness and I also think that he will truly end up being one the greatest Superstars to ever step foot into WWE NXT.
