What's the story?

Kofi Kingston was on the verge of signing the contract that would make his WWE Fastlane match for the WWE Title a done deal. And then Vince McMahon's music hit, announcing Kevin Owens as Kofi Kingston's replacement.

Kevin Owens has spoken out aloud about the replacement, calling Kingston a deserving contender but saying he'd be stupid to not take up this amazing opportunity. Kofi Kingston has finally broken his silence on the matter, through his Twitter account.

In case you didn't know...

Kofi Kingston wasn't even supposed to be in the WWE Championship picture really. He was a last minute replacement for Mustafa Ali, who sustained an injury before the Elimination Chamber match.

Kingston had an incredible showing in the gauntlet match on SmackDown Live preceding the Elimination Chamber. He went on to almost win the WWE Championship from Daniel Bryan during the Elimination Chamber match too.

He was guaranteed a WWE Championship match at WWE Fastlane before Vince McMahon and Kevin Owens took the opportunity away.

The heart of the matter

Kofi Kingston's side of the story, his tale of pain and disappointment has not been heard by the WWE Universe, now that the focus has shifted to Kevin Owens and his title shot against Daniel Bryan at Fastlane. However, Kofi Kingston did air his thoughts and feelings on his Twitter account quite recently:

Kofi Kingston said that while he's had ups and downs through his career, this one particularly hurt him. He named Big E, Xavier Woods and the WWE Universe as fellow travellers in this journey of his. It ended with a positive note, making us wonder if he'll get a WrestleMania 35 shot very soon.

What's next?

It's not known what Kofi Kingston's role will be at WWE Fastlane. One wonders if he will be on the card at all. One thing is for sure, he'll be in a big match at WrestleMania 35.
