What's The Story?

Kofi Kingston, along with WWE Hall of Famer, Shawn Micheals, and Johnny Gargano gave an interview to WWE's Social Media Correspondent, Cathy Kelly in WWE's official Youtube Channel yesterday. There, they all talked about their respective journeys and what this Wrestlemania's weekend means to them.

In the same interview, Kofi talked about the time when he was thinking about leaving WWE.

In Case You Didn't Know...

Kofi Kingston will arguably have the biggest match of his career on this Sunday when he will face Daniel Bryan for the WWE championship. His road to Wrestlemania was not easy as he had to go through lots of obstacles set by Mr. McMahon. He crossed all of them and earned his spot to challenge for the championship with the help of his New Day team members.

The New Day is a tag team formed in 2014 by Kofi Kingston, Big E, and Xavier Woods. Since then, they have won the tag team championship five times and have become one of the most successful factions in WWE of all time.

The heart of the matter

Talking about his career in WWE, he said that before joining The New Day, he was thinking about quitting because he was tired of portraying the same happy go lucky guy over and over again. He felt that it was getting repetitive and boring and he no longer wanted to do that.

He went on to say:

Over the years, you think a lot of times that things will start to get going and then the next day, they don't. I remember my first WrestleMania, being in the Money in the Bank ladder match and having a really good performance and doing things that had never been seen before. I remember walking through gorilla after the match and everybody gives a standing ovation. At the afterparty, everyone is talking about the performance I had. And then, the next day, I wasn't booked on Raw.

Talking about his rivalry with Randy Orton, he mentioned that he felt frustrated that he didn't get his due even after giving his best performance but he kept on going because he was getting to live his dream every week.

He feels like The New Day has revived his career as he went to have lots of success with the group and is now one of the most popular wrestlers.

What's Next?

Kofi Kingston will challenge Daniel Bryan at Wrestlemania this Sunday for the WWE Championship. With the momentum and fans behind him, this could result in Kofi's most important match of his life.
