WWE News: Kurt Angle announces Sasha Banks vs Bayley for tonight's edition of Raw
A crucial match is set for tonight's Monday Night Raw.
What's the story?
Earlier today, WWE Raw General Manager Kurt Angle took it to his official Twitter account in order to make an enormous announcement as he confirmed that on tonight's episode of Monday Night Raw, "The Boss" Sasha Banks will reunite her historic rivalry with her close companion Bayley, as the two superstars will square off in a singles match.
In case you didn't know...
During their time in WWE’s developmental territory, better known as NXT, Sasha Banks and Bayley were together part of one of WWE’s most memorable and historic women’s rivalries. In 2015, Banks and Bayley became the first women to ever headline a major WWE event, when the two ladies collided at NXT Takeover: Respect in the first ever Women’s Iron Man match. This was also the longest women’s match in WWE history, as the two ladies squared off in a 30-minute classic, the match was also voted by Pro Wrestling Illustrated (PWI) as the "Match of the Year", with Sasha Banks bagging the “Women of The Year” award.
Banks and Bayley would once again face-off against each other at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn in 2015 in a match that won the NXT Year-End Award for "Match of the Year".
The heart of the matter
In his latest tweet, Raw GM Kurt Angle announced a mega match for tonight’s edition of Monday Night Raw in the city of San Jose, as hometown girl Bayley gets all set to go toe-to-toe with her best friend and former four-time Raw Women’s Champion Sasha Banks in a singles match set for later tonight.
Furthermore, Angle claimed in his tweet that the solitary reason why he is booking this match between Bayley and Banks for tonight’s Raw is because the Olympic Gold Medalist believes in the myth that friendly competition is good.
Both Sasha Banks and Bayley will have the opportunity to win the Raw Women’s Championship later this month when both the former champions step into the first ever Women’s Elimination Chamber match, which takes place on the 25th of February at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
As noted, Bayley and Banks have been recently teasing a feud with each other on social media as they’ve been seen going back-and-forth on their official Twitter and maybe, tonight’s match is the beginning of another saga in the long historic rivalry between Sasha Banks and Bayley.
