WWE News: Kurt Angle on Roman Reigns being pushed too soon, surprising names he wants to face on the current roster and more...

Kurt Angle feels Reigns was pushed too soon by WWE, reveals a few interesting opponents he’d like to face.

What’s the story?

In a recent interview with Washington’s Top News, Kurt Angle spoke about Roman Reigns being pushed too early in his career and also revealed the WWE Superstars he’d like to wrestle, which includes a few surprising names.

In case you didn’t know...

Kurt Angle returned to WWE for his induction into the company’s Hall of Fame and was declared as the new General Manager of Monday Night RAW, in the days that followed.

Ever since his WWE comeback, fans have been speculating whether he’d compete as a wrestler for the company in addition to his current role of an on-screen authority figure.

The heart of the matter

Angle praised Roman Reigns, besides stating that the WWE may have accorded him a quick push that has, in turn, resulted in fans booing him despite the fact that he’s a babyface.

"I love him. The issue with Roman is he was utilised and pushed way too fast. When you skip the U.S. Title, Intercontinental Title, the King of the Ring and go right to the top, fans don't like that. … Half the fans love him; half the fans hate him.

Same with [John] Cena. When Cena came in, Vince pushed the hell out of him, and fans were like, 'Gosh, dang. This guy's invincible. I hate him!' … If Vince waits it out a bit, fans will start to accept [Roman Reigns], and if they don't, then turn him heel."

The Olympic gold-medalist also dropped a few hints on who he’d like to square off against inside the WWE ring, emphasising that Chad Gable (of American Alpha) reminds him of himself-

"Seeing the talent in Cesaro and Kevin Owens, I love the kid. I'm a huge fan of him. What he can do for a guy his size [and] how he's able to move around the way he does, he defies the laws of gravity. … There are a lot of talents that I'd love to wrestle: Dolph Ziggler and Seth Rollins. But as far as reminding me of myself, that Gable kid, he's a little bit undersized, but damn he can go!"

The 48-year old also recounted his WWE debut wherein he’d opposed Vince McMahon’s idea of promoting him as a heel, stating that the American audience would love him. Angle confessed that Mr McMahon was indeed right, in the sense that his tenure in WWE as a heel really worked out, proving to be one of the highlights of his career.

What’s next?

The Wrestling Machine presently serves as the RAW GM, however, is rumoured to be facing Triple H at Wrestlemania 34, if and when he successfully clears the WWE’s routine physical examinations.

Author’s take

Kurt is spot-on as far as WWE’s push of Reigns is concerned, and as for his appreciation for Cesaro, KO, Rollins and the others, his praise of Chad Gable really stood out the most.

How about Team Angle 2.0? Angle, Gable and Jason Jordan.
