WWE News: Kurt Angle reveals why Nia Jax is the only woman to have her weight announced

What's the story?

A member of the WWE Universe asked Monday Night Raw's General Manager, Kurt Angle, on Twitter why Nia Jax is the only female in the division to have her weight announced by the ring announcer. The fan's tweet was in response to Angle's praise for the Fatal 5-Way match at No Mercy on Sunday.

Angle responded to the fan with the following tweet:

In case you didn't know...

The Rock is the cousin of Nia Jax, and he was the inspiration for her to pursue a career in pro wrestling. The moment that pushed her to go to the WWE was after she saw him perform at WrestleMania 27, when he took on John Cena.

The heart of the matter

Angle's response didn't go over well with some of the WWE Universe, as they tweeted to him their displeasure of the decision to announce her weight during her entrance. Take a look at one example of that displeasure below:

She is beautiful & proud, just as the other women but theirs isn’t announced EVER. The size diff. is clear & doesn’t need pointing out.

However, Nia posted the next day on Twitter. From her post, you can clearly see that she is completely fine with the decision to have her weight announced. Take a look at Nia's response to Angle in the tweet below:

Some of the WWE Universe could be up in arms as there were angles in the past that made fun of someone's weight. One example comes from 2009 when Michelle McCool and Layla were feuding with Mickie James.

They made fun of her weight, by calling her Piggy James. Mickie admitted in an interview that it was a hard storyline to accept, but was glad she did as it shed light on bullying in schools.

What's next?

It is truly up in the air when it comes to what's next for Nia. There are times when she is a vicious heel, while there are other times when she is a babyface.

If they continue the heel route, they may have her feud with Bayley to play on the shoulder injury that Nia gave her just before SummerSlam.

Author's take

In my opinion, if Nia is 100% fine with the ring announcer including her weight in the introduction, then there isn't anything to argue about. She is happy to be who she is and that should be all that matters.
