WWE Superstar Lana has finally debuted her new gimmick at a WWE live event for the NXT brand in Crystal River, Florida.
In case you didn’t know...
The gimmick that is rumoured to have been initially planned for Emma has now been accorded to the 32-year old Lana.
Lana has been preparing for her upcoming debut on the SmackDown brand by wrestling a few matches at NXT shows, besides honing her in-ring skills at the WWE Performance Center.
The heart of the matter
Lana’s dancing entrance is reportedly an important part of her new gimmick as the Ravishing Russian was seen gyrating to the beats of her entrance music in what appeared to be a hip-hop-based dance routine en-route to the ring. She even picked up a win against Liv Morgan.

Prior to entering the world of professional wrestling as the valet of her real-life husband Rusev, Lana has extensively worked as a professional dancer, particularly from 1999 until her transition to the modelling world in 2005.
She is a trained ballet dancer who has majored in dance and acting from the Florida State University (FSU) in Tallahassee, Florida, besides featuring as a backup dancer in a few Hollywood productions.

What’s next?
SmackDown Live has been airing vignettes of Lana’s in-ring debut and fans can expect the Ravishing Russian to enter the SmackDown ring in the next couple of weeks at the very least.
Author’s take
Those who haven’t followed CJ Perry’s dance exploits outside the WWE, you guys are seriously missing out on something. The woman is a true talent and as good as she is on the mic, she’s even better on the dance floor.
In my opinion, Lana’s background as a professional ballet dancer gives her a bit of an added advantage as a pro-wrestling performer- what with the gravity-defying movements and everything in ballet- and mark my words, her skills will show when she steps into the ring with her co-performers on the WWE’s blue brand.
