What’s the story?

In a recent interview with Hollywood Life, Lana opened up on a myriad of topics.

Lana weighed in on the increase in the popularity of Rusev and “Rusev Day” chants. Besides, Lana spoke about portraying Rusev’s on-screen enemy while also asserting her happiness at Daniel Bryan making his in-ring return.

In case you didn’t know…

Lana and Rusev broke through on the WWE main roster as a villainous couple, with “The Ravishing Russian” serving as Rusev’s manager/valet.

However, Lana eventually transitioned into in-ring competition and has competed in several matches on the SmackDown brand’s Women’s Division since last year.

Meanwhile, over the past few months, Rusev has experienced a considerable surge in popularity, as fans and experts continue to laud him for his “Rusev Day” gimmick.

The heart of the matter

Lana expounded upon the increase in Rusev’s popularity as of late, asserting that he’s always been a super-athlete and is one of the best in-ring competitors. Lana added that alongside her on Total Divas, Rusev showcased how funny & entertaining he can be, exhibiting a great personality.

Additionally, Lana alluded that while fans initially chanted “U-S-A” to oppose Rusev’s foreign heel gimmick, the fans now support him by chanting “Rusev Day”. Lana also spoke about feuding against Rusev in WWE:

"Oh yeah! I really enjoy being his enemy. One of my favorite stories in WWE was when he was the jealous boyfriend and I used Dolph Ziggler as revenge, basically; (and) that was so much fun. We had so much fun with that story when we were fighting and our segments on TV would be so much fun—I would love to be in a story or movie where maybe we were enemies."

Furthermore, Lana explained that she was indeed in tears when Daniel Bryan put forth his speech about making an in-ring comeback on SmackDown Live. Lana continued that Bryan proved his doubters wrong by returning to in-ring competition, which truly teaches us to be resilient no matter what.

What’s next?

Lana has now declared that she’ll be participating in the WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal, which takes place at the WWE’s WrestleMania 34 PPV that airs from the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana on April 8th.
