What’s the story?

During last week’s episode of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that top NXT superstar No Way Jose has been written off from NXT TV due to him dealing with a few injuries which he has sustained recently.

In case you didn’t know…

One of NXT’s most charismatic stars No Way Jose disappeared from NXT TV and live event events over the course of the past months or so due to him suffering a few minor injuries that have forced the 29-year-old to be written off NXT TV by the WWE management. Jose, who first made his NXT debut in 2015, has been in some memorable feuds in the promotion so far such as against the likes of Austin Aries, Eric Young, and Sanity.

The heart of the matter

Respected Pro Wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer claims that the reason why Jose has not been seen on NXT during the last month is due to him picking up a few minor injuries in 2017. Meltzer was the first one to report the news on last week’s edition of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

However, apparently, the injuries are not too serious because Jose was recently seen in action at the latest NXT tapings in Atalanta, where he faced off and defeated Cezar Bononi.

What’s next?

The former CWF Mid-Atlantic Television Champion has not been booked for the next NXT Takeover event, which is Takeover: Philadelphia, but Jose following his win over Bononi it looks like the 29-year-old could be in for a push in the current NXT scene. Jose’s win at the latest tapings in Atlanta could be an indication that the NXT creative team has finally realized on how talented and over, No Way Jose actually is among the NXT audience.

Author’s Take

In my opinion, No Way Jose has the talent of becoming a huge star in the NXT mid-card and I believe it is finally time for the NXT creative team to give the man a push of some sort. Jose is also hugely popular with the NXT audience and is a natural babyface, much like Johnny Gargano.
