WWE News: Lawsuit disqualified against The Rock's TV show

The Rock
Ballers is a show based on football players

Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson can take a deep breath of relief because a lawsuit filed against him demanding a whopping $200 million has been thrown out by the court. The Rock was sued for his hit HBO series 'Ballers' along with his fellow co-producer Mark Wahlberg and HBO for copying the idea of the show from another project called 'Off Season'.Everette Silas and Sherri Littleton who happen to be the writers of the scripts of 'Off Season' claimed that they were close to signing a deal with the Rock and Wahlberg in 2009 to develop their idea into a TV show but the deal couldn't be sealed due to the fact that Silas and Littleton asked to be given credit for the show. Then after watching 'Ballers' they realized that the show was very similar to their original idea so they filed a lawsuit back in December last year against the Hollywood stars seeking damages of $200 million.

However now the lawsuit has been dismissed by the court because judges believed that the themes and concerns of the two concepts are widely different . The court said that the two projects had general expressions that you might find in any project where football players were a primary element.
