How did Morgan feel when she got called up?

What's the story?

Liv Morgan may have never been a central figure during her time in NXT, but she's the featured attraction on SmackDown Live as a member of the Riott Squad. She was recently interviewed by ESPN, and reflected on her main roster call-up.

As one would expect, Morgan got extremely emotional. She said she cried like a little girl when she achieved her dream, and of course, anyone really would, in her place.

In case you didn't know...

Liv Morgan was a backyard wrestler and a cheerleader, who always dreamed of making it to WWE someday. Since 2014, she has been a part of NXT, although she's never won the championship in developmental.

Neither was she featured in any of the major storylines, until quite recently. She was called up with five other women from NXT, and with Sarah Logan and Ruby Riott, formed a faction called The Riott Squad.

The heart of the matter

Morgan was not even aware that she was going to be called up. It came as a surprise to her:

I received an email saying that they were going to fly me in to do a dark match — an un-televised match on SmackDown. So I was like, ‘Okay, cool.’
I was super excited for the opportunity to wrestle in front of a bigger crowd. So I just packed my bags under the assumption that I was just going to have a dark match.

However, when she did find out that WWE had bigger plans for her, Morgan started to cry, thankful that her long journey had finally borne fruit:

We get to Raw and we kind of get pulled aside in a room and we’re told that we’d be going to Raw or SmackDown. I didn’t expect it at all. I was completely surprised and, of course, I’m so emotional and such a baby. I started crying.

A touching tale indeed. One of many, from the biggest sports entertainment company in the world.

What's next?

Liv Morgan is guaranteed to be a central figure on SmackDown Live, as long as the Riott Squad feuds with Charlotte Flair. She has the look that WWE likes in a female superstar as well. She has a long way to go, in WWE.

Author's take

I was never a fan of Morgan, who's always seemed very green to me and still does, even after her call-up. The pairing with Riott works, because her weaknesses are concealed when part of a bigger stable.

The sky is the limit for someone with her looks, in the company though.
