WWE News: Major title change on SmackDown Live

What does this title change now mean for the Survivor Series main event?
What does this title change now mean for the Survivor Series main event?

What's the story?

Jinder Mahal put his WWE Championship on the line in Manchester, England this week on SmackDown Live, but it seems that his match at Survivor Series against Brock Lesnar could now be in jeopardy after he was dethroned by The Phenomenal One.

In case you didn't know...

Jinder was scheduled to face Universal Champion Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series in a Champions Vs. Champion bragging rights match and the build-up to this match has dominated SmackDown Live over the past few weeks.

AJ was supposed to face Rusev this week on SmackDown for a spot in the SmackDown Survivor Series team, but it seems that WWE scrapped these plans and had the former Champion take on Jinder Mahal with the WWE Championship on the line instead of after AJ defeated both Singh Brothers on SmackDown Live in recent weeks.

The heart of the matter...

AJ and Jinder Mahal put on a fantastic match with many fans stating that AJ was making Jinder look fantastic and that he seemed to be putting him over ahead of his match with Lesnar in the early stages.

This seemed to change a few minutes later though after AJ failed to make Jinder tap to the Calf Crusher, and Mahal couldn't ground AJ with the Khallas, AJ finally got the victory of a Phenomenal forearm.

The WWE Universe who were in attendance at the event which was pre-taped tonight, seem quite impressed with their new Champion.

What's next?

There is just one more episode of SmackDown Live ahead of Survivor Series next weekend, so it is unknown how this will affect the final dual brand event of the year. Could AJ step into Jinder's place against Brock Lesnar? Or will there be a rematch next week on SmackDown Live?

Authors take?

There have been two major title changes on this week in WWE and both have caused major changes to be made to the Survivor Series card, it will be interesting to see what happens in the final episodes of both shows next week, because right now it seems that a lot of WWE's plans are up in the air. But congratulations to the new two-time WWE Champion, AJ Styles.
