What's the story?

Mark Henry has officially retired from WWE and is less than two weeks away from his induction into the WWE Hall of Fame, but it seems that the former World Champion refuses to rule out a return to the ring under the right circumstances.

In case you didn't know...

Mark Henry has dominated WWE for more than two decades and it seems that "The World's Strongest Man" made the decision to walk away from the ring last year, with his retirement only recently being made official.

Henry became the final entrant into the WWE Hall of Fame last week when it was revealed that he had been chosen to take his place amongst wrestling's elite during WrestleMania weekend this year, but becoming a Hall of Famer doesn't mean that Henry's in-ring career is over, since many legends have returned after their inductions.

The heart of the matter

Mark Henry spoke to TMZ on Sunday ahead of his induction next weekend where he revealed that he is retired but it isn't necessarily something that will remain permanent.

"I can't rule out a year or two, but right now it's a no, I'm not trying to get in there. If it was a perfect circumstance and something happened down the road, yeah. But this year, next year? You can put it out of your mind."

Henry is now 46-years-old and it has spent the past two decades of his life in WWE after he joined the company back in 1996. It seems that the former World Champion wants to enjoy his retirement over the next year or so and could be thinking about a comeback after that.

What's next?

Mark Henry will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame on the Friday before WrestleMania, which is next Friday night; the person inducting "The World's Strongest Man" hasn't yet been revealed.

Author's take

There have been a number of legends who have left the company for a few years and then returned to have a successful run. Goldberg proved that there's never a time limit on a comeback and since Henry was never given a retirement match this would be the perfect way for him to plan his farewell to the business in the coming years.
