WWE News: Maryse on why SmackDown has lower ratings than Raw and Miz playing fantasy football on honeymoon

The Miz and Maryse have become an integral part of the SmackDown roster

WWE superstar and former Divas Champion, Maryse, and the Miz were interviewed by ESPN.com recently. The lady behind Miz’s successful Intercontinental Championship run discussed a number of issues, during the interview, such as RAW beating SmackDown in terms of ratings, being with the Miz, and much more.

On the issue of RAW beating SmackDown in terms of ratings, both Miz and Maryse echoed the opinion that Monday Night RAW is the flagship show and has been that way, since its inception in 1993. While SmackDown, on the other hand, has had to go through changes in time slots as well as networks, and that hasn’t made things easier for the blue brand.

Maryse added that despite SmackDown being the better wrestling show on the WWE Network, Monday Night RAW has a history of 25 years and people relate to it as the flagship show of the company.

She was, however, hopeful that the blue brand would catch-up, saying that it is only a beginning of sorts for SmackDown Live and in time, they would come at par with RAW.

Maryse made a comeback to the WWE, as the Miz’s manager the night after WrestleMania and helped him pick up the Intercontinental Title from Zack Ryder. The Miz’s career, in fact, has been revitalised after Maryse’s return and he has put up some great matches with the likes of Sami Zayn, Cesaro, Kevin Owens and Dolph Ziggler; thereby restoring prestige to the Intercontinental Championship.

The couple also spoke about being together all the time. Miz pointed out that Maryse was the reason behind the redemption of his career and he was happy to be travelling with her. Maryse too voiced the same excitement on being with her husband. She said:

“We just love to joke around. It's been a lot of fun, it sounds cliche when you say you work with your husband all the time, we're on SmackDown Live, we're filming Total Divas, and now we're going overseas for the tour with the WWE, so it's a lot of stuff, but somehow it's really fun. Somehow being together 24/7, we're like best friends.”

During the interview, Maryse recounted an incident from her honeymoon. She mentioned that she was on her honeymoon in the Bahamas and on the first night she noticed the Miz frantically searching for WiFi. She later found out that he needed the WiFi signal for drafting his fantasy football team.
