In case you didn't know...

Matt Cappotelli was a part of the third season of Tough Enough in 2003 and was able to win it alongside the likes of John Morrison. Soon after this victory, while was a part of Ohio Valley Wrestling, Cappotelli was diagnosed with grade 2/3 astrocytoma, a form of cancer of the brain.

He had to surrender the OVW title which he was holding at that time and announced this diagnosis with the fans and the roster. He underwent surgery for cancer in 2007 for the removal of a tumour from his brain.

In 2017, during an MRI the doctors discovered a suspicious form in his brain and concluded that he was once again affected by the disease. They diagnosed him with grade IV glioblastoma multiforme, and he underwent emergency surgery and chemotherapy.

The heart of the matter

In a blog, Cappotelli's wife Lindsay talked about cancer and that they had discontinued treatment in compliance with advice from the doctor.

She talked about feeling helpless, knowing that there was nothing more they could do. She confessed, however, that she felt the decision was the right one, and that they had done all that they could do for diet and treatment.

She revealed she did not know how long they had left and was devastated, but was doing all she could to assure him and let him be at peace.

"I'm okay right now, because he's still here with me. But when he's not...you might as well just rip out my heart right out of my chest. I try to imagine life without him...I try to prepare myself for that outcome...but I just can't really know what it will feel like. Life without him seems unimagineable."

At the end of the heart-touching blog, she confessed to being 'okay' for as long as he was with her but did not know what she would do when he was no longer there.
