What’s the story?

On a recent edition of The List and Ya Boy podcast, former UFC fighter Matt Riddle claimed that Brock Lesnar watches his pro-wrestling matches, takes notes and makes millions as a result.

In reference to the same, Riddle said that the kind of matches put forth by himself and Lesnar -- with their MMA influenced manoeuvres -- can benefit the WWE.

Additionally, Riddle elucidated that the aforementioned style is a highly physical one, wherein the strikes are more powerful and hard-hitting, which in turn look great on television.

In case you didn’t know…

Matt Riddle previously competed in the UFC and was moderately successful in his MMA career however his run with the UFC was cut short after he repeatedly failed drug tests for marijuana.

Riddle eventually transitioned to the sport of professional wrestling and often resorts to calling out Brock Lesnar, having previously claimed that he’d like to retire the Beast Incarnate at Wrestlemania.

The heart of the matter

Speaking of his desire to face Brock Lesnar, Matt Riddle seemingly drew a comparison between himself and the current WWE Universal Champion and said, “I think Brock Lesnar is watching my matches and taking notes. It's making him millions."

Furthermore, Riddle explained how MMA-style professional wrestling matches could help raise the bar in WWE: “It's a more physical style. The hits are stronger, the strikes are stronger, and it looks great on television. I feel like for live audiences it's a little harder, but you add a little bit of 'indy style' in there too, with the hard-hitting strikes... you have the best match of all time”

Besides, the indie performer also spoke about his routine of watching several professional wrestling programs throughout the week, including RAW, SmackDown, NXT and Total Divas; apart from catching up on independent wrestling presentations too via their digital streaming services.

What’s next?

Matt Riddle had a tryout with WWE in the recent past, and impressed Triple H. However, the Game advised him to garner some more experience and prove himself on the indies.

Presently, Riddle competes on the independent pro-wrestling circuit.

Author’s Take

Riddle is one of the hottest prospects in the business today, and I’d like to see him perform in the WWE sooner rather than later.

Although he may not get to retire Brock Lesnar, Matt does possess excellent mat skills combined with a unique persona, which would make him an interesting opponent for any of the top stars in the WWE today.
