WWE News: Mick Foley undergoes hip surgery

The Hardcore legend took some time off from WWE to undergo this surgery

What’s the story?

Mick Foley has finally undergone a successful hip surgery. The hardcore legend took to Twitter to send out an update regarding the surgery.

In case you didn’t know....

Mick Foley had announced last year that he needed a hip surgery. However, he joined the RAW roster as its General Manager anyway and worked Monday Nights since the brand split.

The heart of the matter

It was reported numerous times that the Hardcore legend was in immense pain while on the road and wanted to take a break from the infamously hectic schedule of the company. As a result, he was involved in a rebellious angle with the Commissioner of Monday Night Raw, Stephanie McMahon and her husband Triple H.

Mick was "fired" on-screen and hence was written off from WWE TV for the foreseeable future so that he could have a surgery. Foley was replaced by Kurt Angle on the post-Wrestlemania RAW.

Mick Foley posted the following photo in a tweet and provided an update on his surgery:

He was visited by his daughter, Noelle, who is dressed as “Buddy” The Elf in the picture.

What’s next?

Ringsidenews.com reports that Foley’s deal with the WWE wasn’t a contract and was purely verbal. Hence, we won’t be seeing the former General Manager of the red brand on the WWE TV anytime soon.

Author’s take

Foley is one of the most celebrated wrestlers of all time. He had an immensely high threshold for pain, thanks to which we have innumerable moments to mark out to. However, that risk-filled style of wrestling has cost Foley a number of injuries throughout his career, including this one.

We at Sportskeeda wish Mick Foley a speedy recovery and wish to see him back on WWE TV in the future.

Tweet speak

A number WWE and independent Superstars, as well as other wrestling personalities, tweeted their best wishes to the Hardcore Legend:
