What's the story?

Mickie James had an extremely successful night at this past Saturday's Native American Music Awards. Not only did James win the Single of the Year award for her song 'Shooting Blanks', but she also found herself inducted into the NAMA Hall of Fame. The former five-time WWE Women's Champion also performed live at the awards ceremony.

In case you didn't know

Mickie James is, without doubt, one of the most successful female wrestlers of all time. To this day she is the only individual to win the WWE Divas, WWE Women's and TNA Knockouts Championships, and she may add the WWE RAW Women's Championship to that list on Sunday.

James also has a successful music career. Her debut album 'Strangers and Angels' came out in 2010, which was followed up by 'Somebody's Gonna Pay' in 2013. James released the single 'Shooting Blanks' in 2016.

The heart of the matter

At the 2017 Native American Music Awards, Mickie James was inducted into the NAMA Hall of Fame. James, who is part Native American of the Powhatan tribe, joins legendary performers like Jimi Hendrix, Hank Williams, Taboo (Black Eyed Peas) and many more in the prestigious club.

James also won the Single of the Year award for 'Shooting Blanks', capping off a hugely successful night for the number one contender to Alexa Bliss' RAW Women's Championship. James also performed her new single 'Get Down' at the event, joining performers such as Josh Halverson at the 17th annual awards.

The former WWE Women's Champion documented her evening on social media, posting a number of photos to Instagram. Including among these were pictures with actor Arthur Redcloud, along with a shot of her prior to her performance.

What's next?

James will undoubtedly be lacing up her wrestling boots tonight, as her rivalry with Alexa Bliss continues. The two will do battle this coming Sunday at WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders and Chairs, as James looks to add the RAW Women's Championship to her long list of achievements.

Her new single 'Get Down' was recently released, and is available through all online digital retailers.

Author's take

The life of a WWE superstar is a hectic one, to say the least, so it is wildly impressive that Mickie James can be so successful in an equally intense industry. Being inducted into any hall of fame is a great achievement and huge congratulations must go to the former TNA Knockout's Champion as a result.

Will she be able to defeat the Wicked Witch of the WWE at TLC? That remains to be seen of course.
