What's the story?

WWE is quickly gearing up for the Mixed Match Challenge, this week on Facebook Watch. Fans were elated when they found out that the real-life couple of Jimmy Uso and Naomi would be teaming up for the same.

According to an interview that Naomi conducted with TV Insider, her real-life husband did not really want to team up with her. We thank Cageside Seats for the heads up.

In case you didn't know...

The Mixed Match Challenge is a tournament that teams up one male WWE Superstar with a female one, and will be aired following SmackDown Live in the 205 Live time slot over the next twelve weeks.

The winners of the tournament get to donate a large sum to a charity of their choosing.

Apart from Naomi and Jimmy Uso, Lana and Rusev are also a real-life couple who'll be teaming up for this Mixed Gender tournament.

The heart of the matter

Naomi elaborated on why Jimmy Uso does not want to team up with her:

I wanted to work with him and team up with him, but he doesn’t really want to team up with me. He thinks I don’t listen. I tell him I will listen and do whatever he tells me to do. He goes, ‘No you won’t.’

She further contemplated teaming up with others in the tournament:

It would fun to be with someone else like New Day or Nakamura or Rusev. Teaming up with Rusev would have been very entertaining because we can get on each other’s nerves all the time. And I’m the complete opposite from his ravishing wife Lana. We’ll see how it all goes.

What's next?

The Mixed Match Challenge will air on January 16th and you need to tune in to Facebook Watch for all the action from this very special tournament.

Author's take

Whether Jimmy Uso likes it or not, he'll be teaming up with his wife, Naomi. The couple is one of the underdogs in the tournament, but with Ryan Ward booking instead of Vince McMahon, who knows if they could pull off an upset.

It'll be interesting to see how the tournament eventually does pan out.
