WWE News: New 205 Live General Manager announced

Dr
Drake Maverick - formerly known as Rockstar Spud - is the new GM

What's the story?

With the division in chaos after the release of WWE Cruiserweight Champion Enzo Amore, it was announced that 205 Live would get its first ever General Manager.

Tonight's episode of 205 Live kicked off with Daniel Bryan naming the new GM as none other than Drake Maverick, better known as Rockstar Spud!

In case you didn't know...

Just last week, Daniel Bryan had announced that the first ever GM for the purple brand would be announced this week - and Twitter had been abuzz with speculation ever since!

We heard rumours of Rey Mysterio, Billy Kidman, Hurricane and William Regal all floating about - but former TNA star Rockstar Spud has taken the reins!

The heart of the matter

Anyone who watched Spud on TNA will know just how impressive he is on the mic. While it's a shame that we may not, or at least will only sparingly, see him in the ring, he might just be the man to kick 205 Live into gear and boost the viewership.

In an unusual entrance, Daniel Bryan and Spud came out to Daniel Bryan's music and a graphic appeared on screen with "Daniel Bryan and Drake Maverick" under the pair.

Maverick made an immediate impact, announcing a new 16-man tournament with the final taking place at WrestleMania!

Maverick said he had waited his whole life for the opportunity.

What's next?

Well, we didn't need to wait long to find out the future of the division with the new GM being introduced and outlining his intention.

Now just to see how he handles the role!

Author's take

A shake-up is just what 205 Live needs and Drake Maverick definitely looks and sounds the part.

The new GM has already introduced one UK competitor in former United Kingdom Champion Tyler Bate, maybe we could see more British talent appearing on 205 Live soon too!

Either way, this is incredibly exciting news for everyone involved in 205 Live and the Cruiserweight Division.
