Nixon Newell debuts for NXT after a year out with injury

What's the story?

NXT Superstar Nixon Newell has finally made her debut at an NXT house show in Venice, Florida after suffering an injury a year ago that sidelined her and prevented her from making an appearance for NXT until now.

In case you didn't know...

Nixon Newell is a highly praised and a highly thought of female wrestler from Wales who signed for the WWE way back in the summer of 2017 and was supposed to take part in the inaugural Mae Young Classic.

However, Newell suffered a knee injury shortly after arriving at the Performance Centre that has kept her out of action until now. This meant that Newell was replaced in the Mae Young Classic and hasn't been in action for the WWE since.

The heart of the matter

However after a long ten months rehabbing her injury, Newell made her debut at the NXT Venice, Florida house show alongside her best-friend Dakota Kai in a tag-team match against Reina Gonzalez and Vanessa Borne.

Newell and Kai wore matching ring-gear, which you can see below in Newell's heartfelt Instagram post talking about her return to action.

Newell hasn't been completely off WWE television though as those who are paying attention would have seen her in a couple of the backstage vignettes, most notably the one where Shayna Baszler chokes someone out at the Performance Center. She's also appeared in several WWE related social media videos with Dakota.

What's next?

At the age of twenty-three Newell has a very bright future ahead of her in the WWE. So you should all fully expect to see the 'Girl with the Shiniest Wizard' becoming a fixture in NXT and again on the main roster.

Author's take

Newell's return to action also happens to coincide with the latest round of NXT call-ups post-WrestleMania with Ember Moon and the Iconic Duo (IIconics now) hitting the main roster. This should significantly help Newell's chances and I wish her the best of luck!
