WWE News: NXT superstar and former Tough Enough winner welcome new baby girl

The couple welcomes an adorable child into this world!

What’s The Story?

Former Tough Enough winner Sara Lee and Wesley Blake of the NXT tag team “Blake and Murphy” have happily welcomed a baby girl into the world. Their new daughter’s name is Piper and she was born on May 1st.

In case you missed it....

Sara Lee gained mainstream pro wrestling attention after winning the revived Tough Enough competition in 2015 on the USA Network. Sara was slow to pick-up the nuances of the business, but appealed to fans nonetheless and beat out a variety of opponents such as current NXT and Total Divas star, Mandy Rose.

On Tough Enough, Lee was targeted several times by Paige, the lone female judge, for seemingly not caring enough about her potential position in the business. Blake is a former NXT tag team champion with partner Buddy Murphy. The two conquered the NXT tag team division with Alexa Bliss at their side but have drowned in and out of singles competition since Bliss’s promotion to the main roster.

The height of their run as NXT tag team champions was a title defence against The Vaudevillians at the first NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn event. Blake is still a competitor for NXT while Lee was released from the WWE last year.

The heart of the matter

While the baby was born on May 1st, Lee took to Instagram today to officially announce their new addition to the world.

What’s next?

That’s the question for both these WWE stars. Sara Lee never seemed like she fully understood the business of pro wrestling. Couple that with the fact that she has a newborn baby to take care of and it’s safe to say we may not see her step foot inside of a squared circle again.

As for Blake, the tag team division seems to be his bread and butter. He’s been unable to achieve sustained success as a singles character and truly looks more comfortable in a tag team. Blake and Murphy were a very tactical and functional team in NXT.

They won’t be a premiere tag team on the main roster, but they certainly can be effective as enhancement talent along with the likes of The Ascension and The Golden Truth.

Author’s take

Always happy to see others happy and bringing a new baby into the world is a nice way to see smiling faces. Congrats to both Sara Lee and Wesley Blake on their new addition. Sleepless nights ahead! On the pro wrestling front, I always had a soft spot for Blake and Murphy. Their run as NXT tag team champions in underrated. They were a villainous team that was undoubtedly over and hated by the fans.

So much so that The Vaudevillians were able to get a rub from them. Alexa Bliss was a big part of their success and her moving on to better things hurt their standing on the roster. Regardless, the singles idea isn’t a viable one. Blake needs to pair back up with Murphy, change their look up a bit, and work their way back up the ranks of the developmental tag scene. Never know what could happen then.
