What’s the story?

NXT Superstar Chad Lail aka Gunner from Impact Wrestling has taken to social media so as to reveal a gruesome injury.

Apparently, Lail asserted that despite a finger injury, he’s still ready to get back in the ring and compete.

In case you didn’t know…

Chad Lail performed on the independent professional wrestling circuit from 2001 to 2010.

Lail then started competing in Impact Wrestling as Gunner; winning several titles and tournaments in Impact.

The heart of the matter

Gunner parted ways with Impact Wrestling in 2015 and made his WWE debut in the NXT brand last year under his real-name Chad Lail.

The 6’2” 240-pounder revealed that his left pinky finger has been literally bent. Fans can check out the Instagram photo below—

Nevertheless, despite the brutal nature of the injury, Lail emphasized that pro-wrestling/sports-entertainment isn’t a business for the weak. Lail added that he prefers to be taped up and be sent back to war.

What’s next?

Chad Lail wrestled in his NXT debut match against No Way Jose back in June of last year and has been busy honing his skills at the WWE Performance Center in hopes of competing for the WWE’s yellow brand.

One ought to note that should the extent of Lail’s finger injury prove to be potentially threatening to his health & in-ring performances, the WWE’s medical team could likely disallow him from competing inside the squared circle until he recovers from the same.

Author’s take

Honestly speaking, such stories simply serve to further amplify the amount of blood, sweat & tears that go into making the business of professional wrestling so very entertaining & beloved.

While one can’t help but admire Chad Lail’s bravado, it’d be folly on his part to aggravate the injury—what with his finger literally being bent—by competing or training full-throttle ahead with the same.

Sportskeeda wishes Chad Lail a safe & speedy recovery.
