What's the story?

During a recent interview with Digitalspy, Paul Heyman stated that his thoughts on Hulk Hogan returning to WWE were irrelevant. He stated that the audience, sponsors and Vince McMahon would be the ones to determine the 64-year-old's fate.

In case you didn't know...

Hogan and WWE parted ways in 2015 after several publications released footage of the former WCW Champion's racist diatribe from his controversial sex tape. Hogan later admitted to his mistakes during an interview with People magazine.

"I used offensive language during a conversation. It was unacceptable for me to have used that offensive language; there is no excuse for it, and I apologize for having done it," he said.

The heart of the matter

According to several recent reports, Vince McMahon may be ready to bring "The Immortal One" back into the fold.

There is even speculation that Hogan could replace Daniel Bryan, who will presumably return to being a full-time competitor, as the General Manager of SmackDown Live. When asked for his thoughts on the subject, Heyman remained diplomatic as usual. He said:

"I'm not a ticket buyer. Nor am I part of the target demographic that is catered to subscribe to the WWE Network. So whether or not I want Hulk Hogan back in WWE is irrelevant. It's whether the audience and the advertisers and the sponsors and the chairman of the board want Hulk Hogan back in WWE. "

What's next?

During a recent round of interviews with ESPN, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon stated that WWE had a big surprise in store for the fans at WrestleMania 34. There is a possibility that the surprise could turn out to be the return of Hulk Hogan.

Author's take

Despite his numerous mistakes, Hogan will always be a valuable commodity in the world of professional wrestling. His return to WWE is inevitable.
