WWE News: Peyton Royce reveals which WWE legend inspired her to get into pro wrestling

Bi
Billie Kay and Peyton Royce have made an impact as the IIconics since their main roster debut...

What's the story?

Wrestling Inc. recently covered a recent appearance that the IIconics, Peyton Royce and Billie Kay, had on the Chasing Glory with Lilian Garcia podcast. Within the episode, Royce would tell Lilian which WWE legend was the one to inspire her to get into professional wrestling.

In case you didn't know...

Royce began wrestling professionally in 2009 for a couple of Australian promotions. She would also appear in a Shine event prior to signing with the WWE in 2015.

As KC Cassidy, she lost her first televised match to Sasha Banks on the May 15, 2015, episode of NXT. A few months later she would begin using the ring name, Peyton Royce.

The heart of the matter

When it comes to who inspired Royce to take up professional wrestling, it wasn't any of the legendary women that came before here like Trish Stratus or Lita, it was actually Eddie Guerrero. As a 13-year old girl, the day Eddie passed away was the catalyst to Peyton wanting to become a professional wrestler, and she would further explain in the quote below:

"He was so charismatic. He would make me feel happy. He would make me laugh. He was so amazing to watch in the ring. He was so athletic and entertaining. I wanted to be able to speak Spanish, actually, I am taking Spanish now. I wanted to take Spanish in school because I wanted to talk like him, he was a big inspiration for my life."

Her hard work and dedication have paid off as at the age of 25, she is now on the SmackDown Live roster with her IIconic "sister" Billie Kay. They were called up on the Superstar Shakeup edition of SmackDown and made an impact immediately when they viciously attacked Charlotte Flair leading to Carmella cashing in her Money In The Bank contract.

What's next?

WWE Backlash is the next pay per view, and while the IIconics do not have a match on the card, there is a good chance that they will get involved in the WWE SmackDown Women's Championship match between Carmella and Charlotte Flair.

Author's take

It's really cool to see how the late great Eddie Guerrero inspired not just male but also female wrestlers to get into the business. For those that follow Sasha Banks and Bayley, they'll know that he had a profound impact on their careers as well.

As for the IIconics, I'm very pleased with their performance since debuting on the main roster a few weeks ago. I've always been a fan of Billie Kay and Peyton Royce going back to their NXT days, and I knew after watching them work together in NXT, there were big things in store for them on the main roster.
